A Disney Sing-Along Special Is Coming, & It’s Everything We Didn’t Know We Needed

Rejoice, Disneyphiles (and basically every parent right now looking for ways to entertain your cooped-up kids)! A star-studded Disney sing-along special is coming to ABC with celebrities like Christina Aguilera and John Stamos lending their voices. Hosted by Ryan Seacrest, the musical extravaganza will help you while away a whole hour as your family belts out some of your favorite Disney hits.

Feel free to nerd out over this. You’ll get no judgment from us. In fact, we’ll be right there with you, because this sing-along feels like exactly what we need during the coronavirus crisis. It goes without saying that Disney has an expansive portfolio of sing-along-worthy tunes to choose from, so they won’t be covering everything. But you can certainly count on hearing — and singing — iconic tracks from classics like Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid, along with songs from more modern Disney movies.

Bonus? We can guess some of the songs that will be included by the stars involved. Actress Auli’i Cravalho from Moana will be performing, so here’s hoping for “How Far I’ll Go.” Josh Gad (aka Olaf) has signed on, guaranteeing some Frozen fun. And could we be any more excited over the prospect of Christina Aguilera belting out “Reflection” from the OG Mulan or “Loyal Brave True” from the new live-action version?

Other celebrities making an appearance during the special include Erin Andrews, Bobby Bones, Michael Bublé, Kristin Chenoweth, Luke Evans, Jordan Fisher, Derek Hough, Julianne Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba, Little Big Town, Kenny Ortega, Donny Osmond, Thomas Rhett, Amber Riley and more.

“If there’s something that we’ve all learned in the past few weeks, it’s to cherish every moment and the importance of connection, whether through laughter, stories or music,” ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke said in a statement, adding, “We hope that we can help create some new unforgettable moments in everyone’s home.”

Feeling a little rusty where Disney lyrics are concerned? Don’t worry — an animated character will appear onscreen with lyrics to guide you through each song. The program will also have a benevolent slant, running PSAs from its famous stars to raise awareness about the work Feeding America is doing to help families through the pandemic.

So, go ahead and save the date! The Disney Family Singalong airs Thursday, April 16 at 8/7c on ABC.

Before you go, check out some Disney+ movies and shows to watch with your kids.
