Princess Beatrice is like many brides with a spring wedding date — needing to cancel their big day. The royal waited until she got the official word that the U.K. is in lockdown for another three weeks before she announced the disappointing news.
Her original date was May 29 and was set to take place at St. James Palace in London. The ceremony, along with the reception at Queen Elizabeth’s gardens at Buckingham Palace, will have to wait. A new date has not been set since the COVID-19 quarantine lockdown is a continually fluctuating date.
Princess Beatrice has not had a lot of luck when it comes to her engagement and the pending nuptials to financier Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. Prince Andrew’s scandal surrounding his ties to Jeffrey Epstein, having to weather the exit of Prince Harry and Meghan as senior royals along with Prince Andrew stepping down from royal duties — it hasn’t been the easiest year for the Royal Family.
And this wasn’t even the first time Princess Beatrice had to change her wedding date. “The date was changed two times to adjust [around Andrew’s scandal]. It will be smaller than the original plan,” a source told People in February.
With the ever-changing dates and a scaled-down wedding, it has to take a toll on the bride-to-be. It’s supposed to be one of the happiest days of a person’s life. Instead, it’s been a series of letdowns for the princess.
The good news is Princess Beatrice is leaning on her fiancé to help her through the consistent turmoil and he has the approval from his future mother-in-law, Sarah Ferguson.
“She and Edo have a great love for each other and passion for life,” a source told People. “For them to be getting married fills my heart with joy.”
Hopefully, Princess Beatrice’s big day will happen and hopefully, it will be the wedding of her dreams. She deserves a day filled with joy.
