It’s hard to picture a closer mother-daughter duo in Hollywood than Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson, and the pair’s latest interview pretty much confirms it. Chatting with People for the magazine’s “Beautiful Issue,” Hawn admitted that the women talk about everything — and one of their most-frequented topics is sex. In fact, Hudson says her iconic mom began passing down important lessons about intimacy early on.
In early February, Hawn, Hudson and Hudson’s 18-month-old daughter Rani Rose met up in L.A. for their photoshoot with People. It didn’t take long for the conversation to turn to Hawn and Hudson’s famously tight-knit relationship which, as Hudson revealed, means no topic is off-limits. But especially not one. “What did you teach me about sex? There are so many things,” she said, looking at her mom. “We talk a lot about sex. Surprisingly.”
As Hawn (who is now 74) tells it, one of their earliest conversations about intimacy took place in the car when Hudson was young. “I said, ‘I want you to understand something about Mommy. I’m not a prude. I love sex,'” Hawn recounted. Recalling that milestone moment, Hudson added, “Oh, that’s right. And then she said, ‘Sex is so much fun. But it’s better when it’s with one person.’ And that was a good lesson.”

Over the years, Hudson and Hawn’s conversations about sex have evolved as the women have evolved. And when Hudson was a teen, it became clear that pretenses weren’t necessary. “You were trying to engage and asking, like, what was going on with me sexually,” Hudson said to her mom. “I was like, ‘Mom, let’s just say that I’m kind of a sexually-oriented type of personality.’ And she goes, ‘Please, I have known that since you were two years old.’ I was like, ‘Mom!'”
So, frank and honest discourse was obviously never an issue in the Hudson-Hawn household — whenever Hudson could get Hawn to sit still long enough for one of their frank discussions.
“I was always like [turns her head side to side], ‘Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom. Mom! Mom,'” Hudson revealed, laughing. “You know, she was just constantly moving. I’d sit and that’s when I could really talk to Mom, when she was working out. Once we had a whole conversation about men. And I sat there like, ‘Wow, that’s my mom.'”
