This may sound obvious, but Oprah Winfrey being in your child’s life is basically like having a fairy godmother. Amy Schumer’s baby Gene has that distinct privilege, since his mom and Winfrey are apparently way closer than we realized. Now nearly one year old, Gene David Fischer got the most incredible gift shortly after his birth from his not-quite-godmother, and it’s both over-the-top and classic Oprah at its finest.
Proud mom Schumer was chatting with Howard Stern on SiriusXM when her friendship with the TV host and media mogul came up. Having recently participated in Winfrey’s 2020 Vision Tour, Schumer was raving about her longtime friend’s willingness to accommodate her schedule as a mom, flying her in and out of North Carolina the same day.

It was then that Schumer revealed Winfrey’s longtime affection for baby Gene too: “When Gene was born, she bought him a library that says Gene’s Book Club,” the comedian shared. “She’s really been there for me.”
As you may know, one of the many things for which Winfrey is beloved is her book club — and it looks like she’s spotted a fellow reader in Schumer’s young son! Of course, just gifting him a few baby books would have been too low-key for the queen of gift-giving, and we’re so glad she opted to give him a full library instead.
Winfrey is, of course, notoriously generous, and it’s safe to say this won’t be the last gift young Gene collects from her. With his first birthday coming up, we can only wonder how she’ll top last year’s library.
