It’s shaping up to be an exciting year for the Hadid family! Yolanda Hadid just reportedly confirmed that daughter Gigi Hadid is expecting with boyfriend Zayn Malik — and the proud grandma gave away a few other key details, too. Thanks to Dutch celebrity news television show RTL Boulevard, which interviewed the Hadid family matriarch, we now know when the new addition will arrive and the sweet new nickname Yolanda is gaining in the process.
In case you somehow managed to miss it, the news broke earlier this week that Gigi is pregnant with her and Mailk’s first child. And according to Yolanda, the fact that the world found out was just as surprising to the family as it was to the world. “Still shocked our little secret got leaked to the press,” she said on RTL Boulevard. “Of course we are excited.”
Then, Yolanda spilled the beans about her daughter’s due date, revealing, “I’m excited to become an Oma in September, especially after I lost my mom so recently. But this is the beauty of life, one soul leaves us and a new one comes in. We feel very blessed.” For reference, “Oma” is the Dutch word for “grandma.” So sweet!

As of yet, there has been no official confirmation of whether Oma Yolanda will be welcoming a granddaughter or grandson come September. However, that hasn’t stopped speculation about the sex of what will surely be one of the cutest celebrity babies ever (just look at the parents!).
First, eagle-eyed fans were convinced Gigi was having a little boy. Why? The strings on her 25th birthday party balloons were blue. Fans already suspected the birthday party doubled as a baby shower, so heretofore, they figured the blue strings were a hint about the baby’s sex. Some fans argued that the presence of both pink strings and blue strings more likely pointed toward a gender reveal party, and it wasn’t clear if the blue quote-unquote won out.
For what it’s worth, though, a source told Entertainment Tonight on Thursday that Gigi and Malik — not to mention Oma — are “over the moon” to be welcoming a baby girl. Regardless, one thing is certain: this baby is going to have one doting grandma in its corner.
