Support is huge when you’re in recovery and, fortunately for Heather Locklear, she has an incredible support system in place. At its core? Her daughter Ava. The 22-year-old, who Locklear shares with ex Richie Sambora, has been sheltering at home with her mom amid the coronavirus pandemic — and, according to sources close to the family, Locklear couldn’t be happier to have her daughter by her side.
In fact, Locklear reportedly credits her little girl with getting her to a major milestone in her recovery: one year sober. “Richie and Ava are giving her a lot of support,” a Locklear friend told People. Right now, during this unprecedented time in history, that support translates to a ton of quality time for Locklear and Ava. “It’s really amazing to see how she managed to turn things around,” another source noted of the Melrose Place star, adding, “Heather is always happiest when she is with her daughter.”
If you’re curious as to how Locklear (and presumably Ava, too) is filling her quarantine time, well, it’s probably not all too different from what most of us are doing. Said the source, “She is gardening, taking walks and cooking like a fiend. She cooks for herself, Ava and her parents. It’s very sweet. Her dad is close to 91, and her mom is in her 80s, and she delivers food to them often.”

In general, it sounds as though Locklear has been making the most of this unexpected downtime. Last week, she celebrated her one year sobriety anniversary. This week, she reunited with some of her Melrose Place co-stars for a special edition of the YouTube series Stars in the House.
When asked about her iconic character on the soapy ‘90s drama, Locklear admitted, “It would be fun to play Amanda again.” Hmm, maybe now that she’s in a better mental space and has the support of Ava, Locklear could soon be ready to a reboot that honors the original.
