Kim Kardashian Spills What Happened When She & Kanye Found out She Was Pregnant

Kanye West turned 43 on Monday, and Kim Kardashian made sure to give her “king” some serious social media shout-outs. In doing so, though, she also shared a bit of insider info about another big milestone in the Kardashian-West family: when they first found out Kardashian was pregnant with daughter North West, now 6. Suffice it to say the Kardashian and West had wildly different responses to the news — but who reacted better to the baby bombshell might surprise you.

To revisit that time in the couple’s life, Kardashian and West reportedly started dating in April 2012. Since North was born on June 15, 2013, that means Kardashian and West had been dating well under a year when they would have learned of the pregnancy. As Kardashian tells it, she was understandably shaken a bit by the news. “Fun fact about this pic,” Kardashian captioned a photo of her with West at a restaurant. “I just found out I was pregnant with North and made Kanye fly to London for my Kardashian Kollection appearance bc I was freaking out!”

Looking at the picture now and knowing that backstory, it seems obvious which one of the soon-to-be parents was taking the development in stride. Just look at Kanye’s gigantic smile, right? In addition to clearly being pumped about the pregnancy, he did his best to ease Kim into excitement, too. “He took me to Hakassan and then Hagen Daz to make me feel better,” she revealed.

It’s safe to say Kardashian soon came around to the news. The couple announced the pregnancy in December 2012, welcomed North the following year, and went on to have three more kids: Saint, Chicago and Psalm West.

Kardashian’s birthday tribute (and pregnancy story!) comes in the midst of rumors that their marriage is in trouble. However, a source told HollywoodLife that the rumors are purely speculation. And that, instead of worrying about what others think, Kardashian and West are channeling their energy into making change.
