So, Clare Crawley’s Season of The Bachelorette Is Actually Happening — & We’ve Got Details

It’s finally happening, Bachelor Nation! After months of confusion about the status of Clare Crawley’s season of The Bachelorette, ABC has provided some long-overdue clarity. Yes, Season 16 is happening and, bonus, it’s coming a lot sooner than you might think given how much the coronavirus pandemic slowed production. In addition to confirming Crawley will definitely be handing out roses, the network offered some pertinent details about when and how.

Stopping by Ryan Seacrest’s radio show on Wednesday, ABC exec Rob Mills put fans’ minds to rest by reassuring them that Crawley’s season is still a go. “Here’s what we’re going to do, for Clare’s season, which is going to come first, that’s going to shoot in about a month,” he said, alluding also to Matt James’ upcoming season of The Bachelor. “Everybody is going to be at one location. Everybody is going to be tested a week before; everybody comes back negative; we shoot; and they’re inside that bubble.”

That one location probably isn’t what you expect, though. Explained Mills, “They won’t be at the Bachelor Mansion. They’ll be at some sort of resort and we’ve scouted several of them and all of them have been scouted for good date locations. We had incredible travel planned for Clare’s season. We were going to Italy — all these places that were going to be great — but there will be plenty of different date locations that will feel hopefully as close to The Bachelorette as possible.”

So, filming will get underway soon… but not quite yet. Right now, they’re still re-casting Crawley’s suitors. After revealing the men who’d be vying for the 39-year-old’s heart, fans were pretty dismayed to discover the average age of the suitors was, oh, 25-ish. However, ABC seemed to heed fans’ concerns, with host Chris Harrison confirming that they were going to do some re-casting once the coronavirus lockdown lifted a little.

What does that mean in terms of when TheBachelorette will hit our screens again? Well, ABC just revealed their 2020-2021 schedule, and Crawley’s Season 16 is listed on the network’s fall primetime lineup on Tuesdays (not Mondays!) at 8/7c. While an official premiere date isn’t listed, we can probably expect to see Crawley doling out roses and breaking hearts come September or October.
