Vanessa Bryant Celebrates Daughter Capri’s 1st Birthday

As Vanessa Bryant navigates the heartbreaking reality of life without her husband, Kobe, and daughter Gianna, nearly five months after their tragic deaths in a helicopter crash, she’s still managing to celebrate and share uplifting moments with her family. The latest example: On Saturday, she took to Instagram to celebrate her youngest daughter Capri’s first birthday.

While Bryant’s account remains private, according to PEOPLE, she shared this heartfelt message alongside a throwback photo of herself and Kobe holding their newborn. “Happy 1st Birthday Capri! Mommy, Daddy, Nani, Gigi and BB love you SO much!!! God Bless you sweet princess. ❤️ Capri Kobe Bryant a.k.a. ‘Koko-Bean’ named after her dearly missed daddy, Kobe Bean Bryant ❤️. We miss you SO much Gigi and Daddy.”

She also posted a sweet photo of Capri, who recently took her first steps, in front of her birthday cake — festively shaped like the Disneyland Tokyo castle. “Happy 1st birthday Capri! We love you so much mamacita,” she captioned the post. She also thanked Sweet Lady Jane Bakery Cafe for coming through with the gorgeous and intricate birthday cake, explaining: “Natalia had the original Disneyland castle, Gianna had the Walt Disney World castle, Bianka had Disney Paris and Capri has the Tokyo Disney Castle cake.”

After having to celebrate Gianna’s 14th birthday without her, this celebration provided a much-needed uplifting moment for the family after going through an unspeakably heartbreaking experience. “Happy 14th Birthday to my sweet baby girl, Gianna,” she wrote on May 1 to commemorate the day. “Mommy loves you more than I can ever show you. You are part of MY SOUL forever. I miss you so much everyday. I wish I could wake up and have you here with me. I miss your smile, your hugs and your giggles. I miss EVERYTHING about YOU, Gigi. I LOVE YOU so much!!!!!!”

Sadly, today the family marks another first, as they navigate their first Father’s Day without Kobe. Vanessa marked the day by posting a throwback photo of Kobe with his four girls, writing, “Happy Father’s Day to the BEST daddy in the world. We miss you so much. We love you forever and always. Love, Nani, Gigi, BB, Koko and VB.”
