Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are over the moon, having just given birth to a beautiful baby girl who is named for both the Queen and Princess Diana: Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.
“Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales,” the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s official statement said.
“On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili,” Prince Harry and Markle added. “She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”
And, in even better news, it seems that despite the ongoing family feud and how Prince Harry’s most recent visit to the U.K. went, the royals across the pond are “delighted” by the news.
“The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news of the birth of a daughter for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” a Buckingham Palace statement said.
Prince William and Kate Middleton personally sent well wishes, too, taking to Instagram to congratulate the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
“We are all delighted by the happy news of the arrival of baby Lili,” Prince William and Middleton wrote. “Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie.”
Hopefully they’ll all get to celebrate as a family come the Platinum Jubilee next summer.
