Nothing brings families together like milestones worth celebrating, and the Bidens proved just that. President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden took a break from their respective White House duties on Monday to attend their granddaughter, Maisy Biden’s, graduation from the University of Pennsylvania.
Hunter Biden, Maisy’s father who has stayed out of the spotlight in the past, beamed with pride and flashed a thumbs up for his daughter. Kathleen Buhle, Maisy’s mother, along with Maisy’s older sisters, Naomi and Finnegan, were also there to celebrate Maisy’s graduation from UPenn. The Bidens’ daughter, Ashley also joined in on the family reunion.
Despite his fame, the President blended in with the crowd — or did so as much as any sitting president can blend into a crowd — sitting stage left with the rest of the family in the stadium bleachers at Franklin Field.
As the family arrived, Maisy’s fellow students couldn’t help but notice the President’s presence, waving at him and snapping pictures. Joe Biden was thrilled to wave back, a proud grandfather on this special day. It seems like the Bidens clearly couldn’t be prouder of Maisy.
After the ceremony, President Biden and his loved ones headed to a Vietnamese restaurant for a well-deserved lunch, according to AP, which seems like the perfect way to end the day on a high note and toast to Maisy’s future. What a great reminder that even the President of the United States has time for his family. Congrats to the Class of 2023!
