Ariana Grande‘s estranged husband Dalton Gomez is learning to live with his new normal, but it isn’t easy. He was hit with the jaw-dropping news that his wife was involved with her Wicked co-star, Ethan Slater, who also happened to be married.
Gomez is “adjusting to his new normal and learning to accept it for what it is,” according to an Us Weekly source, but it’s been a tough blow. “It’s certainly not how he expected things to play out because he obviously assumed they would be together forever,” they added. The celebrity real estate agent truly thought that Grande was end-game for him.
Slater almost immediately filed for divorce from his wife, Lilly Jay, once the news of the alleged affair became public, but neither Gomez nor Grande have made a similar move. Even though he knows his ex is dating the Broadway star, he’s not making a legal maneuvers just yet. Gomez is leaving the door open for a reconciliation up until the last minute. “What they had was the real deal and he’s still coming to terms with the fact that they’ve split,” another pal told the media outlet. “His friends have been trying to set him up with people and although he’s been dating, he’s still holding out that him and Ariana will get back together.”
Grande and Slater have cooled down their relationship while the filming of their movie is on hiatus due to the actors’ strike. The couple is taking things “slower” and trying to let the negative headlines simmer a bit. That downtime hasn’t inspired the “Thank U, Next” singer from filing for divorce either, so she might be waiting a long time for Gomez to finally pull the trigger.
