In an excerpt from his memoir Spare, courtesy of People, Prince Harry recalled the day he and Meghan went to his mother’s grave in 2022. “No visit to this place was ever easy, but this one… twenty-fifth anniversary,” Harry wrote. Princess Diana‘s final resting place is on a secluded island in the middle of a lake on her family’s ancestral home, Althrop.
This marked “Meg’s first time” to Diana’s grave, Harry wrote. “At long last, I was bringing the girl of my dreams home to meet mum.” The Duke of Sussex illustrated how the couple spent their time at Princess Diana’s grave. “I placed flowers on the grave. Meg gave me a moment, and I spoke to my mother in my head, told her I missed her, asked her for guidance and clarity,” he wrote.
Harry also gave his wife some time alone, and upon asking what “she’d prayed for” at Diana’s grave, Meghan answered: “Clarity, she said. And guidance.” All these years after her tragic death, Princess Diana’s presence is still felt immensely her Harry.
