Sometimes being in the thick of a crumbling relationship can somehow make it harder to see that things just aren’t working out. Shortly after Brittany Snow and Selling the OC star Tyler Stanaland decided to end their two-year marriage in 2022, the Pitch Perfect star revealed that she was “blindsided” by the split.
“In one day, in a matter of hours, my life turned completely upside down. I was blindsided and everything I thought I knew, held sacred and truly trusted in my life was completely different,” Snow said.
However, not everyone in Snow and Stanaland’s inner circle felt like the couple’s divorce was all that shocking. Polly Brindle, an Oppenheim Group agent who stars in the Selling Sunset spinoff Selling the OC alongside Snow’s ex Stanaland, felt like the separation had been “in the cards for a while.” Brindle opened up further about the couple’s divorce during a recent episode of the podcast Reality Life with Kate Casey.
“The revelations that came out in season 1, I don’t think that helps the situation,” Brindle explained, referring to Stanaland’s flirtatious behavior with co-stars including Brindle herself along with Alex Hall and Kayla Cardone, who tried to kiss Stanaland at a Christmas party while he was still married to Snow.
“I mean, it wasn’t a surprise to his close friends. Maybe it was a surprise to other people in the office who aren’t as close with him. He is a very private person. And I, you know, respect that fully. So I wasn’t surprised, no,” she added, per People.
Stanaland and Snow first started dating in 2018 and got engaged in 2019. The two said “I do” on September 14, 2020, and announced their separation in September 2022 after almost exactly two years of marriage.
“After time and consideration, Tyler and I have made the difficult decision to separate. This decision was made with love and mutual respect for one another. We have realized we need to take some time and make sure we are each living our most fulfilling and authentic lives,” Snow captioned a moody black and white photo on Instagram.
“We started this journey as best friends and our relationship will continue to be a priority not only for us but for our dog Charlie. We sincerely appreciate your support and ask for privacy as we navigate this new chapter,” she concluded.
In the end, it doesn’t truly matter if the split wasn’t a surprise to friends and family of Snow and Stanaland. What does matter is how the two continue to navigate the split — and co-parent their pup Charlie together — in a way that works best for them.
