Ariana Grande Reportedly Waited to File for Divorce From Dalton Gomez for This Surprising Reason

Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez have officially filed for divorce after two years of marriage in separate court petitions filed almost simultaneously, according to TMZ.

In July, reports claimed the former couple, who were first linked in early 2020, had split amicably earlier in the year. Grande’s filing, which cited “irreconcilable differences” as the cause of the breakup, listed the date of separation as February 20, 2023.

The months-long wait between Grande, 30, and Gomez, 28, breaking up and officially filing for divorce has left a lot of room for speculation on the timeline of their split. However, according to reports, the former couple have been busily getting everything in order for a seamless, amicable divorce.

TMZ reports that the couple worked everything out before going to the courthouse. The “Thank U, Next” singer will, in the words of TMZ, “cut Dalton a check.” They also had a prenuptial agreement in place.

“They’ve been really caring and respectful of one another every step of this process,” a source claimed. This seemingly cordial conclusion to the duo’s marriage is somewhat surprising given the rumors that Grande cheated on Gomez with her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater.

Days after Grande and Gomez’s split was first reported in July, Slater filed for divorce from his wife, Lilly Jay, who has since spoken out to criticize Grande. Sources have claimed that Slater and Grande’s alleged relationship was an open secret on the London set of the film. The rumored couple also alleged went on double dates together with their spouses.
