King Charles III reportedly made a big move to thaw the family feud with Prince Harry, but there seems to be a catch that not every British tabloid wants to report — and it’s a significant part of the story. It seems that the Duke of Sussex reached out to his family first.
When Harry was scheduled to attend the WellChild Awards in London, ahead of his journey to Düsseldorf, Germany for the Invictus Games, he asked his father’s office if he could stay at any of the royal properties for one night, which would ensure his safety and security. Well, that request was not well-received. According to The Telegraph, “he was denied a room at Windsor Castle” because most of the royal staff was with Charles in Scotland. Instead, Harry stayed at a hotel and faced a “complicated security element.”
Let’s not forget Harry and Meghan Markle were evicted from Frogmore Cottage, which they were happily leasing, to make way for Prince Andrew, who has refused to leave Royal Lodge. The alternative that King Charles provided was an invitation to Balmoral instead. During any personal visit, that might have been a wonderful olive branch to extend, but the Duke of Sussex’s team told Charles’ office that there was no time in his schedule to jet over to Scotland when he had to be in London and Düsseldorf. And of course, royal experts had to weigh in on this.
“For Harry this was a golden opportunity missed, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine Ingrid Seward told The Sun. “He should have braved it out and gone to see them. If the King invites you to Balmoral, then most people would cancel all of their travel plans.” That would have required Harry to miss the opening of the Invictus Games, which didn’t make sense. It seems that this royal family feud keeps going in circles because no one is willing to meet in the middle, but King Charles should be leading the way instead of being petty.
