Shakira probably regrets ever moving to Spain because she’s no longer with ex-boyfriend Gerard Piqué after his cheating allegations, and the government keeps hitting her with tax evasion charges. The latest accusation from Spanish prosecutors involves a reported $7.1 million tax bill that she failed to pay in 2018.

The investigators claim she funneled her money into an offshore account to evade paying the taxes owed on her income, according to Fox New Digital. This is the second round of charges for the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer after was first hit with a $15.4 million tax bill for the years 2012 through 2014. Government officials claim she lived full time in Spain while she alleges, she lived in the Bahamas during that time period. Her press representatives told the media outlet that she has “always cooperated and abided by the law” and is completely innocent of the charges.

Shakira turned down a plea deal in the first case and she’s now facing a trial in November which could result in a $25 million fine and over eight years in prison if she’s found guilty. “Unfortunately, the Spanish Tax Office, which loses one out of every two lawsuits with its taxpayers, continues to violate her rights and pursue yet another baseless case. Shakira is confident that her innocence will be proven by the end of the judicial process,” her spokesperson continued.

The 46-year-old musician doesn’t seem to be bothered by the major changes that happened in her life over the last year. She’s been too busy creating music and shading her ex in videos every chance she gets. She’s proving to be quite the fighter, so perhaps Spanish tax officials should watch out — Shakira is ready to prove her case.
