Over the years, we’ve seen quite a few unexpected stars join the Bravo world, specifically the Real Housewives of… franchise. Along with that, there have been so many dream casting situations that fans have been trying to manifest for years (cough cough, Meghan Markle). One name that keeps being brought up just laid down her opinion on whether she’d join, but her husband has a few caveats.
Recently, Heidi Montag and her husband Spencer Pratt talked about the possibility of her joining the Real Housewives franchise, despite producer Andy Cohen’s harsh words about her over the years (which he recently apologized for).
And during the interview with E News, it’s clear they have wildly different opinions on joining the franchise. While Montag would love to be a part of it (and even said she’d be a “great addition,” especially since she’s near quite a few of the locations, Pratt had a few conditions in mind. Specifically, he talked about how he doesn’t want to be a “celebrity husband” again.
“Personally, I don’t want to be on any Housewives franchise,” he responded. “I would like our own television show. I don’t like sharing, I don’t like casts. What I’ve learned from trying to do The Hills reboot is you end up relying on a bunch of image-crafting self-saboteurs. And, you know, end of the day, it technically is a team sport—and we learned there’s not very many good teams to be on.”
Regardless, this reality TV move may not happen anytime soon because Cohen recently said having The Hills alumon the franchise would be “weird.” Per E News, he said, “I have said that I thought it would be weird if they were on The Housewives because the same reason that I was saying that it would be weird if Snooki came on The Housewives.”
He added, “They’re so identified, not only with another show, but with another network. So, it’s like, ‘But wait a minute, you are supposed to be on Jersey Shore.’ It just makes it weird, so that’s the reason. They said that they thought it was because I was a big Lauren Conrad fan and I’m like—I’m kind of not.”
