Prince William is making curious moves with his new title, and it may involve an event in the U.S. The Prince of Wales, along with wife Kate Middleton, have been getting laser-focused about the areas they want to make an impact as their journey to the throne begins. However, this unexpected move might shock people.

There was a lot of fuss about William jogging through Central Park unnoticed during his visit to New York last month. Nobody knew it happened until someone, somewhere, leaked the information to the British tabloids. While the news created the latest division between Team Wales and Team Sussex, it might have been a PR move from the palace.

According to the Daily Mail, Prince William’s team applied to the US Patent and Trademark Office on May 12 this year to trademark ‘The Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales.'” What makes the application so fascinating is that it is for very special items including, “printed matter, banners and posters….in relation to charitable activities in the field of mental health; printed race numbers, clothing, footwear, headgear.”

That’s where the speculation comes into play by a legal source for the media outlet. They said, “It is most unusual to see ‘printed race numbers’ specifically singled out. Normally the language is fairly broad and all-encompassing but for this application to mention race bibs in particular might suggest they are thinking about hosting some sort of race or fun run here in the States?”

The Royal Foundation wants to be able to freely use their name for “promotional campaigning, charitable fundraising, educational activities and healthcare services relating to mental health,” which makes William’s Central Park run information all the more interesting. The average American probably didn’t know that William was an avid runner, so creating headlines ahead of some possible big news in the U.S. could indicate that the Prince and Princess of Wales are ready to make their mark overseas.
