Jodie Turner-Smith & Joshua Jackson Were Reportedly Giving Off Major Vibes That Their Marriage Was Struggling

The news that Jodie Turner-Smith had filed for divorce from Joshua Jackson after three years of marriage sent shockwaves through Hollywood on Monday. While many fans were surprised by the news, there are a few insiders who revealed that there were hints of marital strife over the last month. 

Those issues were reputedly on full display at Turner-Smith’s 37th birthday in early September. “They celebrated Jodie’s birthday on Sept. 9 at The Flower Shop in NYC, but arrived separately and left separately,” a source toldEntertainment Tonight. “It was a big party, and they were distant throughout the night and barely around each other. Jodie spent majority of the evening downstairs.” 

The “issues” the couple was facing this time around didn’t involve a reconciliation, though. The Queen & Slim star listed their date of separation just four days after her birthday celebrations. This wasn’t the first time that she and the Dawson’s Creek star appeared to be struggling in their marriage. Just last year, fans were curious as to why the duo wasn’t following each other on Instagram anymore. That resulted in a swift re-follow on both sides, and plenty of PDA snapshots to quiet the rumors down. 

Turner-Smith and Jackson appeared to be keeping things status quo in public while there was obviously something very different going on behind the scenes in their marriage. But they could only fool people for so long as their Sept. 7 appearance at the release of the all-electric Lotus Emeya turned into a spot-the-awkward-body-language moment. There was a huge gap between them as they both stared at each other with tense grins as Jackson held a cake for his wife. They looked like they wanted to be any other place on the planet instead of there together. 

The couple’s main focus will be on trying to amicably co-parent their daughter, Juno Rose Diana, 3, while navigating a new stage in their lives. It’s not going to be easy, but maybe Turner-Smith and Jackson will land in a better place that works for their changing family structure.
