After a breakup, friends can take on a variety of different roles: there’s the one you can cry to, the one you can distract yourself with, and the one who’s first in line to set you up on a date. For Sofía Vergara, who announced her split from ex-husband Joe Manganiello earlier this year in July after 7 years together, fellow America’s Got Talent judge Howie Mandel is dying to do the latter.
“I scream it from the rooftops,” Mandel told People about his wingman abilities at the Visionary Ball on Oct 11. “Sometimes people think that’s inappropriate, other people, not Sofía. She doesn’t get mad at me.”
Mandel, who’s a longtime friend and co-judge of Vergara, also gushed about the actress. “I think she’s great for everyone,” he said, adding that she “deserves to be with somebody ASAP.” “I love Sofía Vergara. I find her incredibly, in no particular order, beautiful, smart, funny.”
As for how he’ll find Vergara the right suitor, Mandel is keeping his options open. After giving hints that Vergara was single to ventriloquist contestant Brynn Cummings during this season of the show, Mandel also joked he’ll create her an account “on [online dating service] JDate.”
Before Mandel’s adorable update on Vergara’s love life, it was her former Modern Family co-star Julie Bowen who shared some insights. “We have spoken, and she’s doing great,” Bowen told People. “Sofía has always had such a wonderful family that surrounds her and wonderful friends.” Looks like she’s relying on them now more than ever!
