Pamela Anderson has been turning heads as she’s continued to rock a makeup-free look during Paris Fashion Week. The natural look, which a wild departure from her heavier bombshell makeup style when she first rose to fame, has earned her praise from both fans and fellow celebrities. Jamie Lee Curtis posted her complete support of the move to Instagram earlier this week, saying that “THE NATURAL BEAUTY REVOLUTION HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN!”
“[I]n the middle of fashion week with so many pressures and postures, and and and, this woman showed up and claimed her seat at the table with nothing on her face. I am so impressed and floored by this act of courage and rebellion,” Curtis gushed about Anderson’s makeup-free look. And now another A-lister is applauding the Love, Pamela author’s move away from traditional beauty standards.
Scarlett Johansson, acclaimed for her roles in films like Lost in Translation and Marriage Story, has joined in lauding Anderson’s bold choice.
“I think it is definitely different to see somebody that’s in the public eye, a woman in the public eye, go to a fashion show or big event with no makeup on. It’s just very different from what we’re used to,” Johansson explained in an interview with PopSugar. “It’s a powerful message for women to see that, whether they follow suit or whatever the effect is, in the zeitgeist. It’s powerful for women to see other women rejecting standard beauty norms.”
Anderson previously opened up about her decision to ditch makeup and her refreshing take on aging. “I think we all start looking a little funny when we get older. And I’m kind of laughing at myself when I look at the mirror. I go, ‘Wow, this is really…what’s happening to me?’ It’s a journey.”
Anderson goes into more detail about her decision to ditch makeup and how her bombshell look launched her into the stratosphere in her memoir Love, Pamela. Her decision to go makeup free is one we totally support, especially as it empowers others to feel more comfortable in their own skin, makeup free or not.
