Prince William has been making moves in the public eye recently that seem to show how he wants to shape his future reign on the throne. He’s not interested in waiting until his father, King Charles III, has stepped down — the blueprint is being developed now. Part of his PR strategy appears to be taking a much more worldly approach and it involves the U.S., where his estranged brother, Prince Harry, lives.
In order to make his mark as a royal and keep the monarchy relevant in modern times, the Prince of Wales knows that popularity in America is a key part of his strategy. It’s why he’s been making more trips to the U.S. and letting royal aides spill the tea about his Central Park jog. Royal expert Kate Mansey believes that this is William “allowing himself to be more open” even though his plan to conquer the U.S. will “draw that comparison” to his brother’s adopted homeland. Mansey toldThe Royal Observer that his approach will also be through philanthropy, just like Harry and Meghan Markle.
“You do have to have a foothold in America if you are starting a big global initiative,” she explained. “I think Prince William realizes you have got to have America on his side. He is very serious about the fact that his role is global. He is on the world stage, and he is going to make the most of it.” In addition to his Earthshot prize, the royal couple is also trademarking their philanthropic endeavors with “The Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales.” It will allow them to spread their wings and get their message out on a more “global” level, and they have the stamp of approval from King Charles.
“The King is very aware of the role the younger members of the royal family play in spreading the word to a wider and younger audience. Media and audience tests demonstrate the success of William and Kate’s engagement with the younger generation through social media and public appearances. So it’s important that they continue this success into 2024 and beyond,” a royal insider told the media outlet. So it wouldn’t be surprising to see William and Kate Middleton make more frequent visits to North America as they define their future roles as king and queen. However, William and Harry probably won’t be crossing paths in their work as long as the family feud continues.
