Kate Middleton’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, probably hoped that their financial issues with their former Party Pieces business were long-forgotten. That doesn’t seem to be the case after they were targeted in a negative poster campaign in their neighborhood of Bucklebury in Berkshire over the weekend.
The entire situation has been awkward from the start, given their ties to the royal family. Their company collapsed after a failed global expansion and the consequences of the pandemic. The business went bankrupt and supply clients were stuck being owed a significant amount of money, even though Carole promised they would get their money before the business was liquidated. The promises were reportedly broken, so there might be a few angry suppliers who aren’t thrilled that the Middletons continue to live a very posh lifestyle.
According to the Daily Mail, the posters were hung on “lampposts and trees around the couple’s home village,” so it was clear someone wanted to get a message across to the duo. Kate’s younger brother, James, was also reportedly spotted “tearing them down” after becoming “enraged by the posters.” The creditors want the Middletons to pay the owed summed, reportedly over $3.15 million of debt, out of their own bank accounts. Carole and Michael currently live in a $6 million, seven-bedroom home and have enjoyed a very privileged lifestyle over the years.
Even if their creditors are upset, their neighbors are very supportive of the Middletons and feel badly about their financial woes. “They are doing their best to make things right and don’t deserve this kind of abuse,” a source toldThe Sun. Another insider defended the family to the Express, noting, “Carole and Michael are incredibly popular. Everyone is horrified by these posters. It’s unfair to do this in their home village, just yards from where they live.” The couple may want to settle the debts as soon as they possibly can so that it doesn’t turn into another huge scandal for the palace, which has their own issues to deal with.
