Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis‘ campaign finances are looking as dismal as his shot at winning the Republican Party nomination right now. His quest to beat Donald Trump and get his chance at a White House run are looking like nothing more than a pipe dream at this point.

His third-quarter campaign spending report, obtained by Politico, revealed just how dire his finances are at this stage of the game. He “took in a little more than $11 million,” but his expenses were sky-high during that same time period,  and he still has “another $1 million in unpaid invoices,” per the media outlet. DeSantis has been trying to gain some ground for January’s Iowa caucus, but his expensive trips to the state certainly haven’t helped his situation.

It seems that the Florida politician enjoys first-class living and would rather fly via private jets than commercial airlines. There were six companies listed for private travel, totaling “about $1.5 million.” He didn’t skip commercial flights although, though, adding another $500,000 to the airfare tab. DeSantis going to have to start cutting back on those expenses as major GOP players, including Sen. Mitt Romney, start looking to support candidates other than Donald Trump and DeSantis to support.

The Florida governor has already cut his payroll, going from 90 staffers to 63 staffers in the last three months — so things really aren’t looking great. He has $12.3 million left in the bank, but only $5 million of that is allowed to be used the primary with the rest is reserved for the general election. With Floridians making up a majority of his campaign donors, DeSantis might have to lean heavily on them in the coming months. However, that isn’t a great sign that he’s making waves on a national level. It seems that his Florida policies don’t resonate with the rest of the country. DeSantis is finding it is hard to beat Donald Trump, even with his mounting legal woes.
