In a Hollywood gossip era gone by, Tom Cruise, who was then married to Katie Holmes, became besties with David and Victoria Beckham when they moved to Los Angeles in 2007. The power squad took the entertainment industry by storm because any sighting of the foursome made major headlines.
Holmes divorced Cruise in 2012 and the former BFFs are no longer in contact with each other because there’s reportedly been a feud that has been brewing for almost a decade. Cruise is reportedly “still angry” at the Beckhams because he believes that they took advantage of his kindness when they moved to California. “Tom did everything for them when they first moved to L.A. He practically gave them the keys to the city,” a source dished to The National Enquirer, via RadarOnline. “He threw them a party to meet everyone important, and the moment they were established they chucked him!”
A second insider claims that Beckhams “test[ed] the waters a while ago” to see if they could make amends, but the Mission Impossible star “ignored them” because he “has no intention of being friends again.” While Cruise has a right to feel hurt, there may be a more complicated reason as to why David and Victoria put up a boundary with him. The 61-year-old actor reportedly tried to recruit the A-list couple into joining the Church of Scientology, which understandably scared them off.
“What was an issue was the pressure to join Scientology,” the Beckham pal revealed. “[Tom] wouldn’t take no for an answer.” As a result, the athlete and fashion designer felt that “they had no choice but pull away.” But the Cruise insider insists, “It’s clear Tom was hurt by the rejection.” Cruise was last spotted with the Beckhams in 2014, but it appears that a reconciliation is not in the cards for any of them.
