When news broke that Cher got back together with her on-again, off-again beau Alexander Edwards, many were quite confused about the pairing, mainly because of their 40-year age gap. A few months ago, when the pair were on, Cher clapped back at people who commented on their age difference, and many speculated that she didn’t think the age gap was too big of a deal. However, in a new, exclusive interview with EOnline, she revealed that that wasn’t always the case.
Cher revealed that the pair met at last year’s Paris Fashion Week, when her friend “pushed” her to ask Edwards about his grill (which were his real teeth. Soon after, Edwards reached out to her friend jewelry designer Loree Rodkin to connect, but Rodkin told him to reach out to the Mamma Mia 2 star personally. And she revealed he was the one who consistently pursued her.
She revealed: “I was in a place where I couldn’t do much and I kept saying, ‘I’m not the right woman for you. First of all, I’m 100 years older than you. And secondly, your friends [wouldn’t think you were] cool if you were caught hanging with me, you know?’ He said, ‘Why don’t you let me be the judge of that?’ And then, we just happened.”
She acknowledged this previously in Dec 2022 on The Kelly Clarkson Show, saying, “On paper, it’s kind of ridiculous. But, in real life, we get along great. He’s fabulous and I don’t give men qualities that they don’t deserve.”
The pair were first linked together in Nov 2022, and Cher quickly confirmed they were together. Then in Dec 2022, engagement rumors came up and about. While neither confirmed the rumors, but they were seen packing on the PDA with their rare red-carpet events appearances.
