This Moment from a Previous Justin Timberlake Concert Proves He Knew Trouble Was Coming His Way Ahead of Britney Spears’ Memoir

Since revelations from Britney Spears‘ new memoir, The Woman in Me, started coming out, the singer’s ex Justin Timberlake has been one of its main subjects. After all, the pair, who were together from 1999 to 2002, shared quite tumultuous years together.

Among the bombshells in her new book, for example, was the couple’s decision to have an abortion during their relationship. “Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy,” Spears remembered in the book, per People. “He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.” In another instance, Spears confirmed that Timberlake cheated on her with “another celebrity,” per TMZ.

Safe to say that the tell-all memoir, by all accounts, doesn’t paint Timberlake in a good light. But, according to a recently resurfaced clip of him at an Aug. 24 concert, Timberlake knew trouble was coming ahead of its release. “They told me not to do this song no more,” the singer said in the beginning of his hit song “Cry Me a River.” He then added, “F— that!”

As a reminder, “Cry Me a River” has long been considered a song about Spears and her alleged infidelity. In the video, Timberlake sings to a Spears lookalike who had just cheated on him. Given that his team told him to stop singing it, we can only assume they knew allegations against his own infidelity were also coming their way.

But, regardless if he and his team saw the bombshells coming or not, insiders have revealed the effects of Spears’ bookhave been huge for Timberlake, his family and his career.

“Justin owns who he was when he and Britney were together, even though his personality, career, lifestyle, and personal priorities are radically different now, 20 years later,” a source told The Sun. “This book is a nightmare for him because of how it throws the whole family into chaos.”

“The timing stings just as much as the revelation itself,” the source added, explaining, “Justin had a big fall planned with new music on deck, more work with his old friends in *NSYNC, and of course, the next installment of the Trolls franchise, which has been a huge moneymaker for Justin over the last several years.”

Looks like Timberlake knew what was coming, had time to prepare, and still got hit with major problems regardless.
