Ivanka Trump wants nothing to do with dad Donald Trump‘s New York business fraud case. She already got out of her defendant status in this case, but it doesn’t look like she’s going to be able to wiggle her way out of her subpoenaed “fact witness” role which means she will be testifying against her father.
It seems that Ivanka’s Manhattan penthouse is a part of the investigation. Donald Trump, the Trump Organization, and sons Donald Jr. and Eric Trump are accused of inflating the value of their real estate holdings, the former president’s net worth, and garnering more favorable loans as a result of this deception. Legal analyst Joyce Vance wrote in her Substack blog, Civil Discourse, that Ivanka possibly holds some key evidence that could take Donald Trump down.
“There has been testimony at trial about the valuation of Ivanka Trump’s penthouse in her father’s Trump Park Avenue property. No longer a defendant, she is nonetheless a fact witness in this regard, and it seems likely she’ll be ordered to testify,” Vance explained. “The [New York] Attorney General [Letitia James] says that although Ms. Trump has denied it, she benefitted from ‘insider’ pricing—she had an option to buy the penthouse for $8.5 million, but the Trump Organization’s financial statements valued the unit at $20,820,000.”
Vance noted that this is considered “price manipulation” and it “falls within the core allegations in the lawsuit,” so Donald Trump should probably get ready for Ivanka to testify against him. “Ivanka Trump may well have to choose between Daddy and perjury, which is why she’s fighting the subpoena,” she added. This civil case has far-reaching consequences for Donald Trump because it could crumble his real estate empire that he’s proudly boasted about for decades — and Ivanka might have to deal with the fact that her evidence might contribute to his downfall.
