Donald Trump‘s business fraud civil case in New York is drawing attention to the Trump family dynamics and how much they’ve changed since his presidency. During his four years in the White House, his oldest daughter Ivanka Trump, and her husband, Jared Kushner, were front and center during the former president’s administration as senior advisers, but now, they are nowhere to be seen.
The major lifestyle and career shift into politics “reshaped much of the Trump family’s wealth, business and dynamics with one another,” according to The Washington Post, and the upcoming testimony of Donald Trump, Ivanka, as well as Eric and Donald Trump Jr., is going to shine a glaring light on those changes. Ivanka formerly was “considered by Trump’s business partners to be the most likely of his children to take over the Trump Organization,” but that seems like a far-flung idea now.
She was “stung by the scrutiny she received in Washington,” per the media outlet’s sources, and Ivanka has decided that being the Trump Organization heir was not the life for her. She’s now focused on her three young children, Arabella, 12, Joseph, 10, and Theodore, 7, with Kushner while he generates questionable business with the Middle East through his investment fund — and both reportedly wouldn’t mind a return to their New York socialite lives.
That leaves Eric to run the real estate side of the Trump Organization while Donald Jr. is centered on his dad’s 2024 political campaign. After relying on Ivanka for years, and being labeled as her dad’s favorite child, that seems to have dramatically changed. The Washington Post curiously noted that Eric and the former president “have grown closer” and now “speak multiple times a day.” It’s going to be hard to hide that reshuffled family power structure because Ivanka is no longer a defendant in the case, and Eric is now in the hot seat — which is probably the worst position to be in at this point.
