Carrie Underwood has enjoyed a successful run of her Reflection: The Las Vegas Residency at The Theatre at Resorts World Las Vegas since 2021. She was supposed to end her run this year, but demand for tickets has called for another extension into 2024, and not everyone seems to be happy about the situation.
The American Idol winner and her husband, Mike Fisher, reportedly have differences over her decision to renew her lucrative contract. “Mike is not happy Carrie extended her residency,” a family insider toldOK! Magazine. “He’s very traditional, and while he loves that Carrie has a career, he believes her role as a wife and a mother should be a priority. Mike just wants Carrie to come home.”
The extension certainly wasn’t a surprise to Fisher since “Carrie did consult with Mike about committing to more residency dates,” but it is the retired athlete who has taken the primary caregiver role for their two sons, Isaiah, 8, and Jacob, 4, in Tennessee. As any parent knows, the stay-at-home parent rarely gets any time off — it’s a 24/7 job. Fisher was ready to have his wife home and that’s why they reportedly “butted heads about it.” The source revealed that the former NHL star “really wasn’t expecting her to want to stay in Vegas.”
It’s “definitely a bump in the road” in Underwood and Fisher’s marriage, but the insider doesn’t seem too worried about the state of their union, promising “they’ll get through this.” But they need to come together and find a good balance since the country star loves “getting some alone time” in Las Vegas. And Fisher is feeling the stress of being “the full-time parent” while being somewhat “annoyed she’s missed family events.” With a little bit of compromise, Underwood and Fisher will figure out what works best for their young family.
