Over the years, former US President Donald Trump’s vents and rants have gone viral. People have either made memes out of them, or dissected them, and some have even taken the bizarre outbursts at face value. The reason they’re so well known is because of his use of yelling (or using all caps), his extreme language, and his tendencies to ramble on different subjects. And with his son Eric Trump’s latest rant, it seems he may have taken inspiration from his dad.

Outside of the courthouse where his father’s New York fraud trial is taking place, he attacked both New York Attorney General Letitia James and… New York City?

“Yeah, well, guys, it was a great day. But what the state is trying to do with my father is absolutely insane,” he started, per RadarOnline. “We have one of the greatest companies anywhere in the world,” he continued. “We employ thousands of New Yorkers. These people, they make their living relying on us! They feed their families, relying on us!”

He then focused on James, saying, “And because you have an attorney general that play politics with everything, you’ve seen that time and time again. She’s come after my father ruthlessly.”

And then, in a truly unexpected turn of events, he started bashing New York City, calling attention to the “potholes,” “murderers,” and “people getting thrown in front of trains.”

“You have people getting shot in the streets,” he said. “You had a little kid that got shot in the head in Times Square recently. You had people getting thrown in front of trains, in stations! The city is going to h—, guys. Guys, we deserve better than this. Let’s get the murderers off the street. Let’s take care of the crime. Let’s rebuild our infrastructure.”

He ended by saying, “Everywhere you drive in New York, you hit a pothole and your car gets destroyed and they’re going after a guy who employs thousands of people in the state.”

Okay, so, here us out: two of the things he called attention to have been, more or less, consistent problems in NYC. First off, the pothole situation: sadly, potholes are a huge problem in most cities, but per Slacker, New York was recently rated number three with the state with the most pothole complaints.

Many people, mostly people outside of New York, think murderers run rampant in NYC. While the crime rate has surged since 2022, murders have actually gone down, so that’s become less of a huge problem than before.

As for the “people getting thrown in front of trains,” let’s break that down a bit. It’s not as widespread as Eric made it sound, but it has happened more than people expect. Per DailyMail, at least 25 people have tragically lost their lives by people shoving them in front of the ongoing subways, and the cases have been covered nationally numerous times.

But the attacking, the use of very extreme phrases and words, along with the rants, does make it seem as though Eric channeled his father’s type of rants.
