Since Melania Trump is such an enigma, and often keeps her life as private as possible, many have thought about conspiracy theories to explain who she really is, and how her relationship really is with Donald Trump.
Over the years, people have made up some theories about what Melania and Donald’s true dynamic is like, and some have reportedly been spot on. Some conspiracy theories like her having a body double, are a bit, erm, more on the cosmic side, but other theories about her and Donald, like their transactional marriage, have been reportedly confirmed by former aides. However, it seems one major theory has been disproven.
In a comprehensive report from The Washington Post, some of Melania’s former aides claimed that Melania once talked Donald out of doing this dramatic act. The aide recounted that Donald reportedly asked Melania: “Should I come down the escalator again?” (Referring to potentially doing a repeat of the act he did on June 16, 2015, where he descended down the golden escalators of Trump Tower before announcing his candidacy).
And Melania allegedly responded by saying, “No, you’ve already done that,” and he never did it.
Along with that, the aide claimed that Donald “would call her from the Oval all the time and ask questions.”
So, what is the conspiracy theory that was reportedly disproven because of this? The theory is that Donald never keeps Melania in mind when making decisions. Former advisor and the director of Donald’s 2016 campaign, Steve Bannon, alleged, per Yahoo, that he “never saw any evidence of a marriage,” saying Melania wasn’t ever a factor in decision-making.
Melania and Me: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship with the First Lady by Stephanie Winston Wolkoff
Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, the former art director of the Met Gala and longtime Vogue staffer, was once friendly with Melania Trump in the way she figured a handful of other Upper East Side moms must be too. But what grew into a close friendship and Wolkoff’s agreement to plan Donald’s inauguration event turned into what Wolkoff calls a shocking betrayal during her time as Melania’s advisor. The full account is a remarkably clear picture of who Melania is and what role she plays in the White House in Melania and Me.
