The royal feud is rearing its ugly head again now that Omid Scobie’s upcoming book, Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival, puts Prince William and Prince Harry‘s rift front and center. While it looks like King Charles III’s heart is open to reconciliation and forgiveness, it appears that the Prince of Wales wants nothing to do with his younger brother.
According to The Daily Beast‘s royal sources, Charles is “delighted” at the idea of breaking the ice with his estranged son, but William’s close-minded attitude has even a close pal worried about the “zero prospect” of a brotherly reunion. “There are some relatives whose deaths would bring Harry and William together under one roof but other than that, realistically it’s probably Charles’ funeral,” the insider shared. “And if things stay as they are, which is basically mutual loathing, you would have to say William would be unlikely to invite Harry to his coronation.” That’s a pretty bleak outlook, if you ask us.
William’s friend thinks that their “bond was so deep” and that’s why “the betrayal has been so wounding” to him with the publication of Spare. “They were the only people who actually knew what each other had been through. How would you feel if your best friend decided to reveal all your personal secrets to the newspapers? Well, multiply that by a thousand,” they said.
The warring brothers are at a total stalemate because neither of them feels the need to apologize at this stage of the game. The wounds are heartbreaking and it would be tragic to only see William and Harry together at family funerals, especially if it is their father’s ceremony. The dire state of their relationship isn’t going to change either “because you can’t get lower than absolute zero.” What a tragic royal tale!
