Since stepping away from their roles as senior members of the British royal family, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been trying to establish themselves post-royal life. The couple has worked with the likes of Netflix, Spotify, and Harry’s memoir Spare released nearly one year ago. But now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex seem to be entering a wholly new phase of their careers, and one longtime royal expert has a friendly suggestion for how the couple should approach this next chapter.

The couple has struggled to define their new roles, and people around them are feeling the pressure. “When I spoke to people in their orbit, they admit that it hadn’t quite gone to plan,” Scobie shared with People. “They really need to establish what their purpose is.”

This isn’t to say Meghan and Harry haven’t accomplished quite a bit in the few years since their time since departing The Firm. The couple’s docu-series Harry & Meghan reportedly became Netflix’s highest-viewed documentary, per CBS News. Harry’s memoir, which published not long after the series’ premiere, garnered a lot of attention on its own. Plus the couple continues to attend quite a few high-profile events.
But the question remains: what’s next for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex? Meghan teased some of the couple’s upcoming projects during her appearance at Variety‘s Power of Women event in Los Angeles, telling the outlet she and Harry “have so many exciting things on the slate. I can’t wait until we can announce them, but I’m just really proud of what we’re creating. My husband is loving it, too. It’s really fun.” We’ll see what the future has in store as Meghan and Harry continue to cultivate their lives and careers in California.
