King Charles III‘s 75th birthday seems to have marked a major turning point in his frosty relationship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The ice appears to be broken and there might be a holiday invitation ahead of them — with one major condition.
The Sussexes are reportedly ready to “change the state of play” and fully reconcile with King Charles, according to Daily Mail sources. The pal of Meghan and Harry also claimed that they would “readily accept” a holiday invite so Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2, could spend some time with their grandfather. However, there are two people who aren’t ready to reunite with the stateside couple: Prince William and Kate Middleton.
The palace insider believes that Charles could easily do shifts with his kids to make everyone happy — and William and Harry wouldn’t have to see each other face-to-face. The Prince and Princess of Wales would celebrate Christmas at Sandringham with the rest of the royal family. After they depart for their country home, Anmer Hall, for the New Year, the Sussexes could meet Charles and Queen Camilla at Balmoral in Scotland.
“It would certainly have the advantage of killing two birds with one stone; extending an olive branch to one son without causing difficulty to the other,” they explained. This would also verify long-standing reports that Charles has never “shut the door” on Harry and Meghan. “It would be surprising for the Sussexes not to have received an invitation by now if there was going to be one. New Year in Scotland would be more likely,” the source noted. “But as with anything to do with Harry and Meghan, let’s face it, anything can happen.” It might be a very happy New Year for Charles and Harry if they can make this visit happen.
