Princess Eugenie is sharing her dinner tale of something so relatable with a very unrelatable twist. Most people love ordering dinner from the delivery apps, but have you ever tried to use the Kensington Palace address? Yeah, we didn’t think so.
Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank very quickly learned about the challenges of trying to do something very normal while living behind palace walls: Order dinner. “So last night we got a curry, which I never do. I never eat them,” Eugenie explained on the Nov. 22 episode of Table Manners podcast. “[My husband] Jack and I were literally sitting for an hour on Deliveroo, like, ‘What on Earth does this mean?’”
Once they got their order squared away, the couple had to “ring down” to palace security that they had a delivery order on its way. That seemed simple enough, but it wasn’t. “And then, we’ll get in our pajamas and drive down and go pick it up,” she added. “We could walk, but I don’t want to be in my pajamas outside.” The delivery driver can’t just waltz up to the palace door and give Princess Eugenie the food, they can only get as far as the gate. Can you imagine being the Deliveroo driver handing off the curry to a princess in pajamas?
We love that Eugenie and Jack enjoy an overpriced delivery order just like we all do, but their privileged life does not allow the driver to come straight to their door. It’s a little more complicated — and a lot more work — but eating takeout food from those cartons while dressed in pajamas is the coziest way to spend an evening, even when it’s at Kensington Palace.
