Sofía Vergara Just Shut Down a Grating Rumor Regularly Hurled at Women in Hollywood

In Hollywood, there’s an unwelcome guest at every red carpet event, every star-studded party, and even in the private lives of the women who grace the silver screen. That guest is the perpetual expectation of ageless beauty, a ceaseless whisper that follows female celebrities everywhere they go. Women are supposed to magically age with grace — but also shouldn’t age with too much grace, because that summons the haters.

This dilemma is one with which Modern Family star Sofía Vergara is all too familiar. Known for her captivating charm and vivacious personality, Vergara has been subjected to uninvited guests in the comment section of her social media accusing her of getting plastic surgery to keep her youthful appearance more times than she could count.

Some of the comments have been nasty, accusing her of having botched plastic surgery jobs or not living up to the Hollywood standard of beauty — which is hilarious to think, given that we’re talking about the stunning Vergara.

So she did what any woman fed up with nonsense rumors did: addressed it in a hilariously head-on manner. “I always want to say, ‘No, it’s called aging!,” Vergara said of the comments in a recent interview with Glamour. It’s called f***ing I’m old! That’s why I look different!’”

The actress, who just launched her own skincare line Toty, did admit to doing “little things here and there” in terms of cosmetic procedures, but it doesn’t sound like she has gone under the knife. “I do a lot of micro-needling when I can,” she said, claiming she would do more if she had more downtime in her packed schedule. “But I do microneedling, little lasers for capillaries because I have rosacea. I do Botox in my eyes and in my neck regularly… And products. I like products,” she explained.

At the end of the day, what a woman decides to do or not do to her face in the name of beauty is her business and her business alone. As Vergara continues to defy both age and expectations, she serves as a reminder that authenticity is the real beauty — a beauty no rumor can tarnish.
