John Stamos, aka Uncle Jesse from Full House, has found himself in hot water following his recent candid remarks about his former spouse, Rebecca Romijn. The fallout from their split was a topic of tabloid fodder for years, with both parties sharing their feelings about the relationship.
Recently, this turmoil has come back to the surface following the release of Stamos’ tell-all memoir, If You Would Have Told Me. “My first marriage was shattering to me. I was shattered for way too long, too,” Stamos said while promoting his book. “I mean, a year, okay, good. But it went on [for] years and years.” Stamos went on to explain that at the time, he viewed Romijn as “the Devil,” saying that “I just hated her. I couldn’t believe how much I hated her, and it ruined my life.”
While Romijn reportedly has no interest in reading her ex-husband’s memoir, her current husband, Jerry O’Connell, apparently has some strong feelings on what Stamos said — so strong, in fact, that O’Connell has reportedly banned Stamos from appearing on CBS’ Talk Show, which O’Connell hosts.
“The tipping point for Jerry came when Stamos referred to Rebecca as ‘the devil,'” a source told The National Enquirer, per RadarOnline. “Jerry is absolutely furious John would lash out at Rebecca in such a way.” The source went on to say that O’Connell “has opted for a more decisive move” when dealing with Stamos, saying “he’s banned John from appearing on the show!”
And while another source claims that there is no such ban, it would make sense, given both O’Connell and Romijn’s repor feelings on the memoir. Romijn is reportedly avoiding the memoir all together, and O’Connell directly addressed it on an episode of The Talk.
“My wife’s ex-husband recently wrote a biography, and it referred to my wife in a negative manner,” the Jerry Maguire actor said, per Huffington Post. “And a lot of people have asked me about that in press, and it would be easy for me to say: ‘Screw you, how dare you ask me that?’ But really, it will be bringing attention to a situation that I don’t want to feed into.”
Romijn and Stamos called it quits in 2005 after nearly seven years of marriage. Three years after their split, Romijn married O’Connell. Stamos has been married to his second wife, Cailtin McHugh, since 2018. Here’s hoping the exes — and everyone else involved — are able to move on from this mess from long ago.
