Kelly Clarkson fans were rejoicing over the news that her ex-husband was ordered by the California Labor Commission to pay back the $2,641,374 he earned from acting as a talent agent to procure her jobs on The Voice and the Billboard Music Awards. As it turns out, he wasn’t licensed as a talent agent in the state of California, and as a music manager, he overstepped his business boundaries.

Well, Clarkson’s celebration was probably short-lived because Blackstock’s legal team has already submitted documents that they are appealing the decision, according to the legal papers obtained by RadarOnline. Even though her ex has left the music industry to pursue a ranching career, Blackstock still has the support of father Narvel Blackstock’s lawyers. His dad still owns Starstruck Management Group, and they reportedly don’t like that the judge ruled against them.

Clarkson was represented by the company for 13 years and things turned sour when she began divorce proceedings — maybe that’s why the old saying of “Don’t mix business with pleasure” always holds true. Starstruck Management Group sued her for $1.4 million in 2020 after claiming she stopped paying them a commission. “Despite Starstruck’s hard work and dedication, Clarkson has decided she is going to stop paying Starstruck for what is contractually owed,” the lawyers wrote in the original lawsuit.

Instead of just folding to their demands, Clarkson responded with her California Labor Commission case which alleged Blackstock overcharged her on commissions. It’s just another chapter in a long, drawn-out split that seems to have an endless supply of court cases. Hopefully, this will be the epilogue for Clarkson as she relishes in her fresh New York City life.
