Jennifer Lopez Shared Her Empowering Approach to the Next Phase of Her Career

Jennifer Lopez has to be one of the most booked and busy people in Hollywood. The actress and singer has been producing and starring in films, working on her own businesses, and fans are still waiting for new music. Through it all, Lopez seems to be the most motivated she’s ever been. And her latest interview with ELLE established her empowering approach to this new chapter in her career.

Lopez, among a bevy of incredible women, is among ELLE‘s 2023 Women in Hollywood series — and for a very good reason. The Hustlers star opened up to the outlet, sharing how she wants to use her platform and power. “I want to tell the gamut of stories,” Lopez shared with ELLE, referencing all the producing work she’s done in the last few years. “Uplifting, empowering stories, and entertaining stories, and gangster movies. I want to do everything that men do. I want to do all of it.”

Lopez finds the idea that women are solely interested in seeing love stories and romantic comedies “insulting.” And though she’s been such a reliable romantic comedy lead in films like Maid in Manhattan, The Wedding Planner, and her recent film Marry Me, Lopez sees so much potential when it comes to the dynamic stories that center women. Women “have been leaders of countries. We have run empires; we have done all of these things throughout history, and we should tell all of those stories,” she told the outlet.

With every new phase of her career, Lopez has remained true to herself. She’s come into her own, taken on challenges, and embraced any assumptions she’s not up to the task. For her, it’s motivating. We shouldn’t underestimate Lopez; she’s already proven she has what it takes to accomplish whatever she sets her mind to.
