When it comes to celebrity it-couples of the early 2000s, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise have to enter the chat. Whether you loved the couple or absolutely despise this matching to this day, you have to admit that they dominated the media during their romance, and up until their divorce in 2012. However, fast forward to 2023, and people still want to know details about their whirlwind romance.
Resurfaced reports, and also a resurgence of curious fans, found that Holmes seemingly converted to the Church of Scientology at a rather unexpected time. And when you put the timeline together, you realize how whirlwind their romance really was.
While the two got together in April 2005, it only took two months for things to change dramatically for them. Per Insider, the Dawson’s Creek alum revealed on June 13, 2005, that she was converting to Scientology for Cruise.
She revealed she was converting during the Batman Beginspremiere, and then spoke in an interview with W, saying, “You know, it’s really exciting. I just started auditing and I’m taking some courses, and I really like it. I feel like it’s really helping.”
Not only was this within two months of dating, but it was merely three days before they announced their engagement.
As many fans know, Cruise and Holmes started dating in 2005, and by the end of 2006, they were married and welcomed their daughter Suri Cruise. They later divorced in 2012, and while Holmes left Scientology soon after their divorce, Cruise has stayed at the controversial church.
