The icing on the cake is being named Time‘s 2023 Person of the Year, and the 33-year-old superstar is spilling the tea on her romance with Travis Kelce as a part of this big honor.
Fans have been sleuthing all over the internet to confirm when the couple started dating because the timeline hasn’t completely added up. Kelce recently revealed that his mustache was a clue to when they started dating — and that facial hair made an appearance on Aug. 2 at the Kansas City Chiefs preseason training camp. The next day, Kelce’s pal Erin Andrews pleaded to Swift to give him a chance with just one date on her Calm Down podcast. And now, the “Love Story” singer is confirming that they were dating far earlier than anyone ever imagined ahead of his Sept. 24 football game when she showed up in his suite.
Swift backs up their romantic timeline with facts about her boyfriend’s New Heights podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce which aired on July 26. “Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” she shared. “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.” That is a much earlier date than mid-August, which is when fans thought they started hanging out.
She also laughed off the idea that their first date would be at an NFL game. “I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date,” Swift said. That revelation should be enough to quiet some of the critics who think this relationship with Kelce is nothing but a PR stunt. The superstar is doubling down on her love, and everyone better get used to seeing them together.
“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care…The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone,” Swift gushed. “And we’re just proud of each other.” There’s no denying that Swift and Kelce are hoping to make this an endgame romance.
