Every holiday season families work hard to get that perfect shot for their Christmas cards. That’s what Prince William and Kate Middleton thought they had captured for their 2023 black-and-white snapshot with their three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.
The royal couple released the image on Saturday, and before long, eagle-eyed fans noticed that there were several Photoshop fails happening. From Prince Louis’ missing middle finger to “an extra leg” in the picture, Kate and William were reportedly not thrilled with the alleged errors. According to an Us Weekly palace source, the Prince and Princess of Wales are “embarrassed” about the mistakes, and the message it sends about editing their Christmas photo. It’s unclear whether Kate and William saw the final proof of the image, but they “were as shocked as everyone else” when the mistakes were pointed out.
One account noted in the comments, “Photoshop fail!! There’s an extra leg in this picture!!!! How did the photographer did not notice?? Omg 😱.” Another added, “Anyone talking about why Prince Louis is just missing a finger?!?” One fan defended Kate and William’s lovely shot for what it is, writing, “Nope, I don’t see any extra leg or any missing fingers. I didn’t see anything wrong with this photo & that was my 1st impression. I suppose if you want to look for something you’d find something.”
The casual, dressed-down family portrait was a great concept for a more relatable, approachable feel. The five royal had coordinating outfits, sporting jeans and button-down shirts in the warm and inviting photo. They simply captioned the Instagram post, “Our family Christmas card for 2023 🎄❤️.” It should have been a celebratory moment for the family, but instead, it turned into an awkward headline for the palace.
Kate and William haven’t taken down the post — it’s an as-is snapshot for now— but we are sure they are disappointed that their lovely family holiday moment was overtaken by a few editing mistakes.
