When royal expert Omid Scobie’s recent royal family book Endgame hit the stands, all eyes were on the royal family and how they would react to the allegations. And while Prince William and Kate Middleton have already have already showed how they plan to react (aka ignoring all of it), one other senior royal member is reportedly unhappy about keeping quiet.
According to new sources for The Sun, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, is reportedly “furious” over the allegations made my Scobie in the book. Among the accusations made by Scobie, for example, is that Sophie didn’t extend a hand to help or mentor Meghan Markle following her wedding to Prince Harry.
Per the source, however, Sophie not only made herself open to Markle’s questions and concerns, but even invited her to tea at her Surrey home. “It was just the two of them at [tea] and they talked for hours,” the source detailed. “Meghan had so many questions and Sophie, who knows what it’s like navigating your way through the early days of transition from a commoner to a royal, gave freely of her advice.”
During tea, Sophie reportedly felt like the two connected. “Sophie found Meghan likeable and engaging and told her that she could call her any time when she needed advice about dealing with some of the trickier royals,” the source added.
After their brief meeting, however, Markle never reached out again. “[Sophie] was quite surprised when that was the last she heard from Meghan,” the source said. “As she noted, it would’ve been nice to receive a return invitation to Frogmore Cottage.”

In addition to Markle and Sophie’s lack of connection, Scobie also made comments in Endgame about Sophie’s reaction to the racism allegations made by Markle and Harry in their tell-all Oprah Winfrey interview.
According to Scobie, Sophie was interviewed by The Telegraph shortly after the Winfrey interview but claimed she didn’t even know who the TV personality was. “You know, if you’re not into chat shows, there’s no reason why you should know who she (Oprah) is,” Sophie told the outlet. “Certainly not in this country, anyway.”
“Whether it was a ‘joke’ (as a source close to Edward and Sophie later claimed it was) or not, the comments about the world’s most successful black woman and one of the biggest faces in entertainment made them seem stuffy or tin-eared at best, and casually bigoted at worst,” Scobie wrote. Knowing how universally famous Winfrey is, we have to hand it to him.
Overall, however, it seems like Sophie is not okay about keeping quite about these allegations. Only time will tell if she’s ready to speak out!
