Now, a new report suggests King Charles has grown closer to one significant member of the royal family, and you might be surprised when you find out who they are.
According to one royal insider who spoke with People, Kate Middleton‘s bond with her father-in-law has grown. “It is clear that she and the King are quite close — in some respects closer to him than William,” the source shared with the outlet. The recent Diplomatic Reception held at Buckingham Palace on Dec. 5 was reportedly a big evening for the Princess of Wales.
“She hugely enjoyed that evening and looked really at home,” the source told People. “She knows the important role the family plays in building relationships globally on behalf of the U.K.” Kate also understands how important the relationships within The Firm are. “It’s only been recently that William has been closer [to Charles] — and Kate has acted as the honest broker in that,” the insider added.
There’s no denying that Kate’s role in the monarchy has rapidly changed over the course of the last decade. Since she married William in 2011, Kate’s grown in confidence and taken on more responsibilities, demonstrating just how much the House of Windsor relies on her. It would seem, based on this report, the head of the monarchy relies on her just as much.
