It is Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens’ first Christmas together as newlyweds which should be a blissful and peaceful time. However, their joint appearance on The Pivot podcast just before the holiday caused quite a bit of internet controversy after the Green Bay Packers safety claimed he was “the catch” in their relationship.
While fans were all riled up in defense of the most decorated gymnast in the history of the sport, Biles took no issue with her husband’s words and stayed clearly in his corner. On Christmas Day, the 26-year-old athlete shared how she feels about her marriage with her Instagram followers — she’s completely unbothered.
The duo was dressed in matching his-and-her plaid Christmas pajamas as Biles sat on her husband’s lap and kissed Owens. The football player had his arms wrapped around her as they ignored all of the outside noise. “MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎁❤️,” she wrote in the caption while surprisingly leaving her comments open, which plenty of her followers took advantage of.
“Here is the most known and respected athlete in US… and there is her husband by her side 😂,” wrote one fan, who got 21,282 likes on her comment from other social media users. Another added, “Merry Christmas to Simone Biles only.” And of course, one fan wanted to make sure Biles’ credentials were known, writing, “Look, it’s the most decorated US gymnast in US Olympic history! And her… catch?”
But the only comment that probably mattered to Biles was from Owens, who sweetly wrote, “First married Christmas ❤️❤️.” The gymnast did her best to shake off the criticism ahead of the holiday with a post on X, “Are y’all done yet?” But, judging from the 30.6 million views and over 4,200 comments, the answer might be, “Not yet.” Here’s to wishing Biles and Owens much peace in 2024 as they have proven to everyone that they are sticking together.
