This Unexpected Member of the Royal Family Believes Queen Camilla Has Been ‘Absolutely Outstanding’

Dynamics within the royal family have certainly changed within the last few years. With King Charles III’s ascension to the throne, certain members of the House of Windsor have assumed new positions and roles, including Queen Camilla. The queen consort and wife of King Charles for nearly 20 years has been by the sovereign’s side through every change, and her capability to assume new responsibilities and meet challenges hasn’t gone unnoticed by one member of the royal family.

Footage from the BBC documentary Charles III: The Coronation Year offered audiences new insight into Princess Anne‘s relationship with the Queen Consort. “I’ve known her a long time, off and on. Her understanding of her role and how much difference it makes to the King has been absolutely outstanding,” Princess Anne says in the documentary, per Cosmopolitan.

“This role is not something that she would have been a natural for, but she does it really well. And she provides that change of speed and tone,” the princess royal said. Assuming a new royal role, title, and responsibilities can seem a daunting task from the outside. Then again, given how long Queen Camilla and King Charles have known one another, providing that steady source of support may come naturally to the queen consort despite new pressures.

While there’s been a lot of scrutiny on Camilla for decades, she’s seemingly blended into her role as queen consort with aplomb. The aforementioned documentary in which Princess Anne offered her praises of her sister-in-law premiered on BBC One just a few days ago, on Dec. 26. The 90-minute film offered longtime royal watchers a behind-the-scenes look at the royal family’s relationships and dynamics, and this new insight into Princess Anne’s view of Queen Camilla definitely offers new insight into how the House of Windsor has embraced King Charles’ wife.
