Sarah Ferguson’s Touching 2023 Reflection Proves Just How Much of a Rollercoaster Her Year Had Been

Like many of us, Sarah Ferguson‘s 2023 was filled with many ups and downs. And while not all of us had to face major health scares, or had the joy of welcoming a new family member, the Duchess of Sussex is sharing her rollercoaster year with her fans, and we’re applauding her for her honesty.

Ferguson posted her end-of-year reflection to Instagram on Jan. 1, along with a beautiful portrait of her posing on a bed in a sleek green silk dress.

“I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday celebrations today,” the royal wrote in the caption. “2023 hasn’t been without its ups and downs, trials, lessons, laughter, miracles and joy.”

Among her highlights of the year, of course, was releasing her second novel. “I made the Sunday Times Top 5 bestseller list for my historical romance novel, A Most Intriguing Lady!” she wrote.

“I was diagnosed with breast cancer,” she continued, referring to her major health scare this year. “I beat breast cancer and now I have got a Derek on my left.” As a reminder, Fergie named her reconstructed left breast “Derek” after undergoing a single mastectomy earlier this year, People reports.

“I have a new grandchild!!!” she wrote. Ferguson’s youngest daughter, Princess Eugenie, welcomed her second son, named Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, with husband Jack Brooksbank in May. “I have had the pleasure of meeting some very inspiring people from around the world with beautiful stories to tell,” she continued.

Overall, it seems like Ferguson’s rollercoaster year has only heightened her positive outlook on life. “I have discovered within myself that I, too, have more stories to tell,” she reflected. “I am 64 and just getting started. I hope everyone takes time to reflect and to look forward with love and positivity. Happy New Year, #2024!” We love to see it!
