Meghan Markle’s Upcoming Career Plans Reportedly Avoid ‘Anything Royal’ After Tough 2023

Meghan Markle finally has 2023 behind after a year of challenges with the royal fallout from Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, and the cancellation of the couple’s Spotify deal. In the year ahead, the Duchess of Sussex is looking to make her mark on Hollywood in a new way, and one that doesn’t reflect her ties to the palace. That strategy is tapped out and the Sussexes are reportedly exhausted from it anyway.

Her unexpected appearances in the fall seem to indicate that she’s ready to go back to the entertainment industry where’s she not only comfortable, but she’s also welcome. “Look, if you’re appearing on red carpets and premieres, that means you’re putting yourself on show for the type of people who might cast you, book you, use you,” PR expert Mark Borkowski told The Guardian. “That’s what Meghan’s been about.” While many royal watchers seem to think she will go back to acting after the streaming success of Suits, Meghan might be taking a bigger approach to her career with her high-powered agents at William Morris Endeavor.

Signs continue to point back to her former lifestyle blog, The Tig, and her desire to build on “something rooted in her love of details, curating, hosting, life’s simple pleasures, and family.” Whether her next step is being influenced by Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop or Martha Stewart’s empire, Meghan reportedly wants “something safe and timeless … that won’t be accused of riding on the back of anything royal,” according to Omid Scobie’s sources in his royal biography, Endgame. She would be able to show the warm side to her personality while still aligning with brands to create her own lifestyle kingdom.

The career trajectory probably appeases the royal family, too. Meghan and Harry can live out their lives without attaching themselves to palace gossip, even though the British tabloids would probably prefer they stay in the royal business. Borkowski recommended that Meghan surround herself with “critical friends” or “good people who can get them in the zone.” He believes that this will be the secret to Meghan’s successful comeback, which is possible as long as she puts her royal history behind her.
